Some time ago, the old farmstead at Torabhaig was identified as the perfect location for a small, traditional distillery, with all the factors needed to make good, robust island whisky. We were also fortunate to start with a handsome, rugged building, just needing some love and attention.
The 19th century steading has now been fully restored to hold the gleaming copper stills and traditional wooden wash-backs and should allow us to produce whisky here for the next two hundred years.
Our stills were commissioned in 2017 and we released our inaugural bottling, Torabhaig 2017 in February 2021, with our second expression, Torabhaig Allt Gleann following in July of the same year. With these two releases we have established an elegantly peated style. March 2024 has seen the release of Torabhaig Cnoc na Moine (Hill of Peats). With this release, we have, retained our elegant peatiness but for the first time, introduced a small percentage from our Sherry casks. This is the third in a series of four expressions which will take us to the release of our Torabhaig 10 year single malt Scotch whisky.
The best way to really get to know us is a guided tour of the
distillery. The tour will take you behind the scenes into the
heart of the production area and give you a unique insight into
life in a working Hebridean Island distillery. Our guides will
lead you to experience all stages of the whisky making process,
grain to spirit, before concluding with a tutored whisky tasting of Torabhaig Allt Gleann and Cnoc na Moine. We look forward to welcoming you.
