Named after the heroine of the 1745 rebellion, Flora Macdonald, the hostel has welcomed visitors to the Sleat peninsula and Skye for more than 20 years. We are a small independent traditional hostel in the lovely village of Kilmore close to the Armadale ferry. We might be one hour drive from the main village of Portree, but our stunning views to the mountains of Knoydart across on the mainland are just breath taking. And even though you will not find pubs and shops in our village, the calls of the birds, the views and the tranquility of our location will make your stay at Skye unforgettable.
We offer private budget rooms for two, three, four and six people and we also take group bookings (up to 20 people). Our small rooms for two, three and four, which are located in our wooden chalet, share bathroom and kitchen. And our bigger rooms, which can be found in the main building, are en-suite. Both of our kitchens are fully equipped and provide basics like sugar, tea, coffee and oil and salt and pepper, so that you don’t have to carry them! Our hostel also features a cosy common area where you can enjoy the fire while watching the sunset over the mountains. Or while reading one of our “book by book swap” books. Or you can challenge your group and play a round of Scrabble and other games we have. See who wins! you will also fall under the spell of our sweet Eriskay ponies, which love nothing more than our guests’ attention and some carrot or apple. And maybe you will even see some deer!
