Experiences
RUDAN RI DHÈANAMHSleat has so much to offer our visitors – we have the wonderful Armadale Castle and Gardens which is also home to the Museum of the Isles, where you can not only see some of the history of the Lords of the Isles, but trace your family heritage if you have ancestors from the area. We can also boast of having the newest distillery on Skye – Torabhaig, which is part of the Hebridean Whisky Trail.
We have a variety of walks to tempt you out of your car and into your walking boots. You can take a gentle stroll around the gardens at Armadale Castle or follow one of their nature trails, or take a longer walk to Leitir Fura, Point of Sleat or Coille Dalavil. Links for the walks take you to the Walk Highlands website, which is an excellent reference point and gives clear instructions for each walk.
You can enjoy world class kayak instruction if you fancy venturing out on the water and there are yacht moorings if you are arriving by sea. You can experience and learn some of the Gaelic language and culture at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Scotland’s national Gaelic College.
In short, there’s a lot to discover and enjoy here in Sleat, or you can just sit on a beach, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet!
